Ontario Installations

Barrie Island, Manitoulin Island, near Gore Bay

Previous | Home | Next

This installation is done in a private, secluded area of Barrie Island. The rectangular harbour and boat launching ramp was blasted and scraped out of limestone. Since the walls went straight down, dead weights were not an option. Ordinary stand-off brackets could not be used because the sedimentary rock was so brittle, a small hole would just crumble and fall apart.

Custom made brackets were used. Made from 3" (I.D.) pipe and 3.5" (I.D.) pipe T's. The pipes were cemented into 4" holes in the rock.
